报告摘要:Inner model theory is an attempt to identify the rigid portion of the information in the set theoretic universe. This is typically done in terms of definable inner models constructed relatively to a sequence of elementary embeddings. In certain situations such models capture, very closely, the large cardinal, combinatorial, and definability structure of the universe. I will give an overview of inner model theory and its development with focus on the case of ``short extenders", which suffice to capture large cardinal information below the weakest (nontrivial form) of supercompact. I will also point at the cornerstones of the theory which mark how our intuition about higher forms of infinity developed, an was incorporated into the theory.
