摘要: In this series of two lectures,  I will first give some introductions on eigenfunctions in the first lecture. Then in the second lecture I shall present some results in global harmonic analysis that concern properties of eigenfunctions on compact Riemannian manifolds. Using local arguments we can show that $L^p$ norms of eigenfunctions over the entire manifold are saturated if and only if there are small balls (if $p$ is large) or small tubular neighborhoods of geodesics (if $p$ is small) on which the eigenfunctions have very large $L^p$ mass. Neither can occur on manifolds of nonpositive curvature, or, more generally, on manifolds without conjugate points.

 

报告人介绍Christopher Sogge Johns Hopkins University J.J. Sylvester 讲座教授,1994年国际数学家大会报告人。是世界上调和分析在偏微分方程中的应用领域的顶级学术带头人之一。获得过多项重要奖项, 包括NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship (1985), Sloan Fellowship (1988), Presidential Young Investigator Award (1988),  Guggenheim Fellow (2005),  Simons Fellow (2012), Fellow of the American Mathematical Society (2013).  是美国最悠久的数学杂志之一的<<American Journal of Mathematics>>杂志的主编。
