A finite, connected and undirect graph is called 2-arc-transitive if its automor-phism group acts transitively on the set of 2-arcs, where a 2-arc u,v,w means that u\neq w and v is adjacent to both u and w. Praeger divided the 2-arc-transitive graphs into three types: quasiprimitive type, bipartite type and regular cover (of the first two types) type. The first two types involve the studies of quasiprimitive groups, which is mostly related to finite simple groups. As for the third type, we have to study the group extension of the above groups, and moreover, some technics from topological graphs are used. In this talk, we shall present some recent results on 2-act-transitive regular covers of graphs.
