Volume Conjecture relates the asymptotic behavior of certain quantum invariantsof 3-manifolds with the geometric information of the manifolds. In this introductory talk, I will recall the Turaev-Viro invariants and its corresponding Volume Conjecture. Most of the results in this talk will be focusing on the building blocks. For the Turaev-Viro invariants, the building blocks are the quantum 6j-symbols originally coming from the representation theory of quantum groups. We study the asymptotic behavior of quantum 6j-symbols and its relationship with the volume of generalized hyperbolic tetrahedra, which are the building blocks of the hyperbolic structure of 3-manifolds.
