In this talk we report on some new progress in setting up an abstract framework, under which Morse theoretical methods can be applied to some non compact variational problem by computing the difference of topology induced by the so called "critical points at infinity". As application we show how to apply such a method to the Nirenberg problem on spheres, recovering all existence results available in the literature. This is a joint work with Thomas Bartsch (Giessen University).

Mohameden Ahmedou,现为德国吉森大学数学系教授,博士研究生导师,研究兴趣主要集中在偏微分方程(PDEs)、非线性分析、变分法、微分几何和数学物理等领域。 迄今在国际期刊 Duke Math J., JEMS, Ann.I.H.Poincar\'e-AN, IMRN, Ann. Sc. Norm. Super. Pisa Cl. Sci., J. Funct. Anal, Calc. Var. Partial Differential Equations, J. Differential Equations 等发表论文近 40 篇。
