In this talk, I will present recent developments in the theory of Landau damping for the Vlasov–Poisson system, with a focus on nonlinear dynamics near various equilibrium states. The discussion will cover both rapidly decaying equilibria and non-monotone, compactly supported profiles, highlighting the challenges and insights arising in each case.
