In this talk, we will show how to use the semi-derived Ringel-Hall algebras of distinct hereditary abelian categories of degenerate type to provide new realizations of the quantum group U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_\infty).
This is based on joint work with Hui Chen, Zhongwei Fang, and Dong Yang.
