In this talk, we first recall some basics of knots (links) and their invariants. Then we introduce the HOMFLYPT skein models of 3-manifolds. We give the definition and some properties of the colored HOMFLYPT invariants. Next, from the view of string dualities in Physics, knot invariants are superisingly related to many other branches of mathematics, such as Gromov-Witten invariants, Hilbert schemes, quiver varieties, etc. Those connections largely extend the researches of knot theory. Finally, we will introduce some of our related works in this field.
