报告摘要
Traditional approaches to modeling human behavior in social dilemmas primarily employ various forms of game theory, which focus on the material outcomes of actions or strategies as represented by payoffs. In evolutionary game theory, these payoffs are often linked to biological fitness. However, human behavior and beliefs are significantly influenced by non-material factors, including social and psychological effects. In this lecture, I will begin by outlining the key differences between standard models of biological evolution and those specifically designed to describe human behavior. I will then explore why social influence has played a pivotal role in human evolutionary processes. Following this, I will introduce some simple mathematical models that capture the impacts of social influence and social norms on both individual and collective behavior. My talk will conclude with a discussion on how insights from these models can inform strategies to mitigate harmful social norms, such as foot-binding, female genital mutilation, and excessive drinking among college students, as well as promote beneficial social norms, including those fostering pro-environmental behaviors.
